Aluminium slat fencing: measuring and ordering guide

Use the online designer to plan a front fence, boundary fence, privacy screen or matching gate. Build a layout from separate fence runs or connect runs at a right-angle corner. You can also plan individual panels between existing posts or pillars.

1. Measure the opening

For new posts, select whether your run length is measured overall, from outside post face to outside post face, or between the first and last post centres. For existing pillars, measure the clear opening at the top, middle and bottom, and use the smallest measurement.

2. Choose your configuration

Select flat slats or fixed louvre panels, then review the available slat widths, spacing and finishes. Choose existing supports or new aluminium posts, with bolt-down or in-ground mounting as appropriate for your project.

3. Review before ordering

Check every run, opening and gate in the drawing. Review the calculated components, cut list, quantities and current product pricing. Resolve any warnings before continuing to the Glass House AU cart.

Plan matching pedestrian and sliding gates

Include a gate in your fence layout or choose a gate-only project. Confirm your clear opening, gate location and support arrangement. Check that the selected hinges, latch, tracks and other hardware are suitable for the final gate and site conditions.

Compare slat fencing products

Browse our aluminium slat fencing systems and pedestrian slat gate components to compare the available options. For angled privacy screening, explore fixed louvre systems. Use the house designer and online planning tools for other areas of your project.

Before you order, confirm all site measurements, fixing requirements, footing and support suitability, and any applicable approval requirements. The designer is a planning and ordering aid; it does not certify structural design or pool-barrier compliance. Substrate fixings may need to be selected separately.

Slat fence designer questions

Can I use existing posts or brick pillars?

Yes. Choose panels between existing pillars or posts, enter each clear opening and review the support options. Existing supports are not supplied. Check their condition and suitability for the fence or gate loads before ordering.

Can I design a gate without a complete fence?

Yes. The designer includes pedestrian-gate-only and sliding-gate-only options. Choose whether you will use existing supports or include new aluminium posts, then check the gate dimensions and component list.

Are the components supplied cut to size?

Stock-length components are supplied in full lengths for customer cutting. Use the calculated cut list to plan your work, and check product details and all measurements before cutting.

Does the designer include fixed louvre panels?

Yes. Select the fixed louvre panel option in the designer and review the available configuration, drawing and materials for your project.

What should I check before checkout?

Check measurements, finish, slat spacing, supports, gate openings, component quantities and all displayed warnings. Review the cart and the final delivery or pickup options before completing payment. If you are unsure about a configuration, contact Glass House AU before ordering.
